Fearless Songwriter Challenge February 2020
Day 1 Prompt: Through the fog. Well, you’re hear the story if you listen. We adopted a new kitten and he is now the center of the Universe over here! The tune I got sounds like a ‘60’s throwback…at least the chorus does. Anyway, song 1 DONE! :-)
Day 2 Prompt: Wrinkled Conversations. This totally jogged a weird little thang…and I decided to just go with it!
Day 3 Prompt: Endangered Species. I immediately knew what I wanted to write. Sadly, I had little time, so I fashioned more of a “ditty” this time around. Maybe someday it will grow into a full song…
Day 4 Prompt: You’ll never make it without me. Ok, this is a flaming piece of…. you know what, I had no time. I threw something together just to have something and I wanted it to be as dorky as the song is, so, listen at your own risk! Lol
Fearless 5 Prompt: That #$&!# Guy! I attended a music conference all day. Started feeling funky midday but took some Tylenol and sucked it up. This song has nothing to do with the prompt. I just got this vision of a scene where a woman was telling her partner it was over. And no, it has nothing to do with my baby. I think yesterday’s prompt just got stuck in my psyche and got a little twisted ;-)
Fearless Day 6 Prompt: I’ve got nothing. I thought I had nothing, except of the crud…felt yucky all day. Dragged myself down into the studio at 8:14pm and emerged at 8:48 with song in hand. Not bad. Nothing to do with the prompt, but I can live with that!
Fearless Day 7 Prompt: Endless January. There is just too much irony to today’s offering. First off, it’s February and SUNNY. Secondly, I was attacked online for defending one of my women friend’s who was groped while on-stage at a gig. Anyhoo. Rather than feeding the anger, I decided to write the happy, grateful song! YAY! Another Fearless Challenge COMPLETED!!!!
Fearless Songwriter Challenge January 2020
Day 2 Prompt: The Comic’s Section. I was flying home, had my iPad, looked briefly at the prompt before boarding and going into airplane mode. Truth be told, I misread. Anyhoo, I wound up writing a 80’s kinda tune and I kinda like it even the vocals are silly right now because I sang into my iPad using the earbud mic!
Day 1 Prompt: Little Patch of Sun I loved this prompt, and being that I was in Florida when I read it, I was really excited to write. I got the chord/melody structure done and was about to endeavor the lyrics when relatives arrived and I had to make a choice to be present with family I don’t see often. I am going to listen and see if there’s anything worth salvaging…someday…
Day 3 Prompt: A signature. I had so little time to work on this which was a bummer because I instantly had pictures in my head. Anyway, here’s an eked out tune…maybe I’ll evolve it someday…
Day 4 Prompt: The Road to the quarry. I started this one and got the bulk of it done really early. Then life waylaid me, we then had a power failure. It was a good thing. I came back at 9pm and re-worked it and like it a lot better now.
Day 5 Prompt: Gathering Courage. Yay, morning writing and I finished before 10am! AND bonus, I used the prompt!
Day 6 Prompt: Braided together. I’m feeling under the weather, but the song my be written. Nothing brilliant here, but I like the little twisty chord in the chorus…
Day 7 Prompt: Your Battle Song. YAHOO!!!! Another fearless challenge in the books. What a phenomenal way to start the new year. I used the prompt. This song wrote me, it literally was like “hey, stop what you’re doing, and finish me already!” Glad I did. It’s a nice anthem to end the challenge with. Still wonder if I’ll finish the unfinished Day 1 song…things i ponder…
Fearless Songwriter Challenge November 2019
Day 2 Prompt: Burnt Toast. I’m fried. Hubby’s plane was delayed 4 1/2 hours so we got home close to 2am. I did the day and kept thinking Burnt toast, burnt toast, I really enjoy burnt toast. I tried writing about someone who liked burnt toast and their significant other didn’t…and then it just expanded and as always, i serve the song, not the prompt.
Day 1 Prompt: Speak to last night. I woke at 6:15am without my alarm. I was ready. I read the prompt and grabbed my “lucky book” and wrote the prompt down. As I was writing, I remembered this strange and vivid dream…and so I wrote about it. It’s a long way from being anything “useable” but I kind of like the quirkiness of it…
Day 3 Prompt: Just a few words. I was feeling a bit playful so I decided to dissect the prompt and use it to start lines of the chorus. I wrote 99% of it in one pass early this morning and then had to head out. Glad I was able to finish…
Day 4 Prompt: Homeless Heart. I thought this was going to be so easy-peasy…wrong. Anyway, It’s a song, sort of…
Day 5 Prompt: My Mother’s Necklace. Ok, I fully cop to phoning this one in. I have little time. The prompt is bringing up a jumble of sappy visions. I’m allowed a stinker once in a while… lol.
Fearless Songwriter Challenge August 2019
Day 1 Prompt: Bump into Stars: Hectic day. Wrote the words first which is always a challenge for me. I think the hook has potential and I like the lyrics, but I don’t like the song…
Day 2 Prompt: How to Fall Down. I started the piano figure in the morning and then errands, airport pick-ups and parent refereeing derailed me. All done by 7pm. Not bad!
Day 4 Prompt: Eating Sugar out of my hand. So, I googled the term because I had little time today. I got a million sites about how bad sugar is for you. Lol. I turned it around.
Day 3 Prompt: Unbecoming. And I used it! WARNING: This song contains expletives.
Day 5 Prompt: Who made the world? Well…I went a bit off the rails here. Warning,WARNING: This song contains expletives and political commentary that is negative towards a man named Donald…😉
Day 6 Prompt: The Voice of a Mouse. Hmmm…I wasn’t feeling the mouse, but the idea of that small voice that tries to get heard above all the clutter, that’s what motivated me. Apologies for the wonky F#m chord. I’m capo’d to the 9th fret and it just wasn’t working.
Day 7 Prompt: At last, and too soon. I had so many ideas and decided to lean into the sweet one. Being thankful even though something is over. It’s short and sweet. I hope you enjoy….another Fearless Songwriter Challenge COMPLETED!!!!
